LEIF "THE EEL" MAGNUSSON

The first-born son of Magnus Bjornsson, nephew to Jorfor.

The stoic and quietly spoken Leif is not a great boaster like his father. He is currently learning shieldwall skills from Bjorn - it was during his training that he earned the nickname "the eel", as he is slippery and difficult to strike. His youth was a troubled one; being born after his father had already gone to the east, he lived alone with his mother. One day after many years, he decided he had had enough of farming toil, and knowing he would not be able to find his father, he went in search of the rest of the family he had heard much about, but never met. He travelled the length of Norway, and suffered many trials, all of which he delt with stoicly.

It took him over a year to reach Dýrøy, and asking around he quickly found the homestead of Jorfor, only to be told by his steward that he had sailed away a week before to Orkney, to meet a man he only knew as “The Bear of Orkney”. He stayed at Dýrøy for several weeks until he could gain passage to Orkney using the last of his money. He was forced to row most of the way, which once again he undertook with stoicism. Reaching the main island, he walked the full length of it, finally reaching the hall of Bjorn “The Bear of Orkney” in Stennis. There he met Birna, and discovered that he was again a week late - his cousin Bjorn had been reunited with his father, Leif’s uncle, and sailed far away to Miklagarðr. Taking pity on the ragged youth, Birna allowed him to stay in their hall on Orkney until the rest returned. And it was there, against all expectation, that he was reunited with the returned Magnus.
