Jorfor's second son by birth, but illegitimate. Despite this, Skmaere has still been welcomed in by the family.

Born in Stavanger in Southern Norway, he was brought up to be heavily self-sufficient. His mother died when he was 20 years old, leaving Skmaere with nothing - no connected family, no one to turn to; all he had were stories of Jorfor, this man he had never met. So he set off to find his father, crossing the length on Norway on foot. It is a hard journey, but along the way he refines his hunting and trapping skills as a means to survive.

He spent time as a mercenary, but after an altercation in the settlement of Nidaros where he killed a man named Bjarni Skarsensson, he spent more time as a bandit and remained on the run until he travelled far up into the north, and finally found his father, Jorfor, and was reluctantly taken in. Over the next years, Jorfor helped hone his skills until he became a formidable hunter and trapper in his own right.  The blood feud with the Skarsensson clan lasted three more years, until it was finally ended by his older brother Bjorn. Of the Skarsensson family there are no survivors.

He earned the name "Andlitbita", or "Face-biter", for his unorthodox, and some might say unsporting habit of biting chunks from his opponents' faces in battle.

Grew malcontent as he aged, growing more aggressive and bitter at his father, after many headed arguments, he left the village to make his own way in the world.
